morning

Zack wanders in the dark; I gave birth to an alarm clock. He won't go play. He misses his sister.

Lexi spent the night with her newest, bestest BFF, a delightful little girl that would cringe at that description. (And may I add: Red hair. Call me Envy.)

I thought about her last night, with another family down the road. Up until now, she has always been with people I hang out with - family, family friends, Girl Scouts I've camped with.

And though there isn't any reason to worry, the house felt empty.

She is taking steps into her own world, where I will not follow.

Where did the time go?

That touch of bitter mixed in with the sweet, eh? Or is it the other way round?

Oh wow, that is a big feeling. I'm not ready yet...

Your perspective is so healthy for me to read right now. These experiences help me grasp that concept of, "they grow up so fast" way more than someone speaking those words. I just got a twinge of scared feeling mixed with excitement for what is to come.

For now we only do the "cousins" sleepovers. I'm just not ready for anything else. And can't really imagine that I'll ever be...

And as for the whole "where does the time go"... well, I'm still freaking out that my 3rd grader has started kindergarten... (chew on that for a sec.)

oh. poor zack, my kindergartener will be the same when the girl goes somewhere without him.

Wow, that is a big step. I hope she had a great time and that you recovered.
