are we there yet?

My mind is racing like the squirrels dancing overhead on the roof each morning, keeping me company when I wake up before dawn.

(Hi! My name is Lisa, and I'm an Insomniac. It's my new thing.)

The past week was lovely: the last orchestra concert of the year, lunch with a friend from high school in a cute part of Portland, field day and garage sales and Zumba and moving and shaking - my booty and my body, from one thing to the next.

We're down to the last four days of school, there's cake in the oven and the promise of a sweet summer in the wind.

I am ever ready.

Welcome to the Insomniac Girls Club. Ugh.

I go thru it in spurts. Lately my deal is, I fall asleep very easily between 11-midnight, then wake up at 2:30 for about half an hour. Sleep from 3-4:30, and up 4:30-6 a.m., fall asleep and really start to saw some logs when the alarm goes off at 7 a.m.

I *think* the last time I slept through the entire night was 1997, but I'm not positive. Could have been '96.
Cake? Did you say cake? :-)
The second I got pregnant I stopped sleeping well. That was in January 1994. The 15th I think. Since then I've spent just about every night laying there poking my snoring husband every 5 minutes so he shuts the heck up, and then I fall asleep. Once I'm asleep, it's fine, but wow.

I did find that cutting out any sort of caffeine or other stimulant by dinner time helps, and not going to bed until my eyes start crossing is a good sign it won't take me hours to get to la la land. ;)

So it sounds like you're a musical kinda gal. I need your help! I need a name for a new singing quartet! I have a contest going on my own blog.

I would love your input!

Me, too! Well, on the summer thing. Insomnia really sucks. I'm sorry. Hopefully it will pass once summer begins.
