thankful

I am thankful to witness nervous and not so nervous students recite poems.

I am thankful my daughter willingly accompanies me in the thick fog to a reading, insisting that I get my book signed, though she was weary and ready to call it a night.

I am thankful to live near the City of Books. My world is full of words.

And I am thankful for generous writers, those brave souls that pressed on and published and offer up encouragement along the way.

(Add Stephanie Kallos to your calendar the next time she comes through town; you won't be sorry. She reads her prose with an actor's flair and answered questions with such warmth. I'm so glad Lexi came along.)

Your City of Books sounds fabulous! How special that you took Lexi along and that books play such a huge part in your life.

It is always special to hear the author read their own work!

How exciting!! I am so glad that Lexi went with you... I am hoping for such mother-daughter bonding in years to come...
I LOVE taking the kids to Powell's. One of our favorite times was when we went to see some Star Wars authors and there were a ton of geeky guys dressed up like Storm Troopers. I mean a ton. They all marched in together silently and freaked everyone out.

Or the time we got to watch Dave Barry demonstrate the sparking action on his Rollerblade Barbie. It made his Science Fair that much more special.

We should totally do a Happy Hour Homegirls trip to Powell's....

Thank you again for being a judge for my students; it meant the moon & stars for me to have you there.

Glad you had a lovely time at the signing with your girl :)

So many people diss on poetry, which ignites my ire, but there is nothing so beautiful to me as the weaving of words.

I'm so glad that you went.

This will sound like a silly comment but I like her handwriting! It's cute.
